Community Care Clinic
Vision & Dental Care

The Community Care Clinic partners with Western Carolina Eye Associates to provide vision exams for our established patients. This service is particularly critical for many of our patients who have been diagnosed with diabetes, as they are subject to an increased chance of vision loss and/or glaucoma. The exams are offered at a reduced cost, along with a monthly pro-bono exam. Last year, WCEA provided $4,092 worth of in-kind care. Community grants from the Women's Fund of the Blue Ridge and the E.F. Troutman Family Foundation pay for these reduced-cost exams.  Exams are based on funding availability.

In 2011, the clinic began a pilot program to provide limited dental care services. Appalachian Dental Care provides this care at a reduced cost for those established patients who are experiencing dental pain and infection, and must receive a referral from one of our primary care providers. Community grants from Women's Fund of the Blue Ridge pay for these exams. Our hope is to expand the program by recruiting more dentists, and by raising additional funds to serve more patients.  At this time, exams are limited based upon available funding.
