Meet The Staff

Catherine King- Executive Director

Catherine King has been with the Community Care Clinic since 2010 and has been the Executive Director since March of 2020. She has served in many roles at the clinic including accountant, data management and collection, assistant to the Executive Director, grant writer and Interim Executive Director.

She graduated with a BSIE from Purdue University in 1981 and worked as a manufacturing engineer for various manufacturing companies in Ohio and North Carolina. She also worked as a consultant for manufacturers in implementing and maintaining ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems. After moving to Boone in 2004, Catherine worked part-time as the Parish Administrator for St Luke’s Episcopal Church while maintaining her consulting practice.

Catherine finds this challenge of directing a health care organization in this era of Covid-19 and beyond to be fulfilling and rewarding. The mission of the CCC – “providing quality health care to low-income uninsured adults” is vital in maintaining a healthy community.

Andrea Brubaker, Medical Provider

Andrea Brubaker recently relocated to Boone to join CCC from Northern California, where she had worked at a Federally Qualified Community Health Center in rural Humboldt County. Prior to her nurse practitioner training at Emory University in Atlanta, she lived in Thailand as a Fulbright scholar. Originally from Georgia, she is happy to be back in the Southeast and lives with her husband, 1 year-old son, and dog.

Barbara Hathaway, NP- Medical Provider

East TN resident, married, daughter. Likes to garden and travel.

Kim Carter, MA, LPA

Kim Carter has been living in Boone for almost 20years. She graduated from Villanova University and went on to receive a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Appalachian State University. Most recently she received a scholarship to train at the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind-Body Medicine.

Kim has worked in a variety of settings providing assessment, therapy, and case management and consultation services. Kim is passionate about working as part of a medical team to provide integrated care.

Kim enjoys spending her free time with family playing outside, hiking, gardening and traveling.

Jaime Plude, Development Director jaimep@ccclinic.org

Originally from a small town in California, Jaime Plude moved to the Appalachian region and made it her home in 1998 after travelling extensively throughout the United States. During her travels, Jaime became passionate about serving vulnerable populations while developing and operating a grassroots mobile food kitchen project in Asheville, NC. Jaime earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work in 2017 and has been serving the community through working previously as a Shelter Associate and Service Coordinator at the Hospitality House of Boone, Program Coordinator and Executive Director of Todd Table in Todd, NC, and currently as the Development Director of the Community Care Clinic in Boone. Jaime also enjoys spending time with her three children, attending local events and is a certified Feng Shui Practitioner.

Born and raised in Boone. Associates Degree from CCC & TI and has 15 years experience in the medical field. She is blessed with two wonderful children – Becca and her husband Jo-El, and Ryan and his girlfriend Vanessa Greene, and two grandsons – Peyton and James!

Cameron Pittman (they/them), NCCPSS, MSW Intern

Cameron Pittman is a first-year Master of Social Work student at Appalachian State University. They graduated from Appalachian State University in 2022 with a BS in Psychology and University Honors. They received their North Carolina Peer Support Specialist certification in 2023, and worked as a patient care coordinator at a dermatology clinic in Chapel Hill before beginning their Master’s program at ASU.

Cameron is passionate about helping people overcome barriers to access healthcare and related services. They have 5 years of experience connecting peers with service providers and resources that meet their individual needs.

In their free time, Cameron enjoys practicing mindfulness through wheel-thrown pottery, spending time with their fiancé, and cooking healthy meals. They are excited to return to Boone and serve the community that supported them through their undergraduate studies!
