Do you accept any type of insurance?
No, the Community Care Clinic can only accept patients who are uninsured. If you have any type of medical insurance (private, employer, ACA, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.), the Community Care Clinic cannot provide any medical or mental health services.
Our Community Resource Center interns can assist insured community members with finding care.
Do you charge for services?
No, the Community Care Clinic provides free on-site care for the uninsured.
Do you only provide primary care?
The Community Care Clinic is not just a doctor’s office, we are a holistic community health center committed to supporting all aspects of our patients’ health. This is why we offer so many specialist clinics, as well as community resource referrals.
Can I use the clinic if I am not from Boone, NC?
There are no residency requirements for the Community Care Clinic, we are able to serve patients from any area. We are a medical clinic in Watauga County, but we serve patients from locations outside of Watauga County including:
Ashe County (Jefferson, West Jefferson, Lansing, Todd, Glendale Springs, Creston, Crumpler, Fleetwood, Warrensville, etc.)
Alleghany County (Sparta, Piney Creek, Glade Valley, Laurel Springs, Roaring Gap, Twin Oaks, Stratford, Cherry Lane, Cranberry, Glade Creek, Gap Civil, Prathers Creek, Whitehead, etc.)
Avery County (Banner Elk, Beech Mountain, Crossnore, Elk Park, Newland, Seven Devils, Linville, Cranberry, Pineola, Plumtree, Roaring Creek, etc.)
Wilkes County (Wilkesboro, Elkin, Ronda, Cricket, Fairplains, Hays, Millers Creek, Moravian Falls, Mulberry, Pleasant Hill, etc.)
We also serve patients from Eastern Tennessee (Mountain City, Johnson City, Shady Valley, Newport, Butler, Elizabethton, Doe Valley, Shady Valley, etc.)
Do you provide Dental or Vision services?
The Community Care Clinic does not provide on-site Dental or Vision care.
We do have some grant funding to refer patients to community partners for dental and vision services. These funds are limited and reserved for established patients of at least 6 months. Click HERE for information.
Vision services are provided by Western Carolina Eye Associates. Dental services are provided by Steven Airey, DDS.
Do you prescribe State Controlled Substances?
The Community Care Clinic does not prescribe controlled substances.
Do you accept walk-ins?
The Community Care Clinic will begin accepting walk-ins in early 2025, no appointments needed. We will update our website and social media when the walk-in clinic becomes available. Check back soon!
Can I utilize your specialty clinics if I am NOT a patient of the Community Care Clinic?
No, our specialty clinics (orthopedics, neurology, gynecology, physical therapy) are only available to established Community Care Clinic patients. Please call the clinic to schedule an initial primary care visit. You may ask your provider about seeing a specialist at your first visit!
Can I utilize your lab services if I am NOT a Community Care Clinic patient?
No, our lab services are only available to established Community Care Clinic patients. Please call the clinic to schedule an initial primary care visit. Your provider may be able to order lab services at your first visit!
